Voluntary Simplicity

Christine Martin, 54, is a practitioner of "Voluntary Simplicity," which means that she makes her lifestyle as eco-friendly as possible. Martin particularly focuses on re-using as much as she can, including only furnishing her home with items from thrift stores as well buying locally. Since last January, she has participated in a family share with Terry's Berries so that she receives local and organic fruit and produce weekly. Alison Yin/The News Tribune

Wednesday, July 4, 2007, marked the 23rd annual Naturalization ceremony at the Seattle Center in Seattle, Wash. There were 552 immigrants representing 82 countries participating in the mass swearing-in to become US citizens. Irina Bondarenko of Moscow, Russia, has been living in the Untied States for 12 years.
