Oakland Officer Vigil

The officers who gave their lives in the service of the citizens of Oakland are heros. I hope that this sounds a sea change for the streets of Oakland. The violence needs to stop. The system is broken. I have hope that we can fix it.

Fun at the Oakland Zoo

Alison and I took a trip to the Oakland Zoo today and took a few snap shots. Oakland's zoo is known for taking great care of the animals. We enjoyed the trip. I posted a few images, and as you can see the otters are my favorite.

Flowers, more flowers

John Bos grows and sells tulip and daffodils on the corner of Oakdale Road and Claribel road in Modesto, Calif. on March 21, 2009. Everywhere I looked the past couple of days it was flowers, the signs of spring. (Adm Golub/ The Modesto Bee)

This Silver Waves camilla, top and Lady Pamela were winners at the Camellia Society of Modesto's 48th annual Open Camilla show in Modesto, Calif. on March 21, 2009. (Adm Golub/ The Modesto Bee)

And lastly here are some flowers on my street in Oakland.(Adm Golub)

Clown Teacher

As part of Ken Kobre's photojournalism class we are assigned to make a portrait of a teacher. I decided to shoot Christina Lewis, a clown teacher. Lewis runs the Clown School of San Francisco.

Working with her to make these portraits was a joy. She was very welcoming and easy to work with coming up with ideas. She has a very magnetic personality, which I think must be helpful in her line of work. I hope that this comes out in my portrait of her.

Blossoms!

Last week, I had one of those days where I can't believe I get paid to do what I do. I was sent out to photograph the annual almond trees in full bloom - an assignment that every photographer at the Bee has done multiples times. Since this was a first-timer assignment for me, I had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful weather and the vibrant colors. Enjoy!

Kid in the window

Sabrina Laver, 2, presses her face against the window of a restaurant after eating lunch in the Marina District of San Francisco, Calif. on Febuary 21, 2008.

I was eating lunch with my friend Allen when this little girl smashes her face against the window. It was cute and I couldn't pass up taking this photo. I really like the light.

Working dogs ride BART

I like to take photographs of dogs and I liked the way the light fur stands out against the darker background.
