This was my first time at the Paramount Theater in downtown Oakland, and it is really an incredible venue. Great acoustics, beautiful architecture, spacious area. I got to photograph Jill Scott, but only her first three songs before the photogs got kicked out.
Consuela Patterson, 43, of Oakland, Calif., waits for the results of her AIDS test, which sits on the desk next to her in downtown Oakland. Patterson says she gets tested at least once a year, and after waiting 20 minutes for the results, she found out that she tested negative for HIV.
